Behind “Lekker”

What does “Lekker” (leh-kur) mean anyway?

Lekker is a Dutch word loosely translated to “super-good”, “nice”, “fun”, “tasty” -- all of the things we hope this business encompasses.

We hope that the children, young adults, and the families that choose Lekker find kindness and fun, tasty and health-giving foods, and “super-good” high-quality services. But there’s a long-winded, deeper answer to this question too:

Starting in 2014, I (Linnea) spent two years with my husband living in Delft, Netherlands. It was one of the most challenging times of my life due to health difficulties, but was also the place where my dream to be a Speech-Language Pathologist really manifested. On my bad days there, we always found something “lekker” (good, nice) to improve the day -- a walk to the market, a re-run of a show in English, a sunny day without rain or wind. It reaffirmed to me that even in darkness there is light and it was there that I decided I wanted to be able to bring the “lekker” things to each and every client and family as a Speech-Language Pathologist.

So, here we are! May this journey to better speech, feeding, and/or health bring you and your family the “lekker” things too.

P.S. I have been completely healed from my health difficulties since 2016, praise God!
